Bushwalking
in Coffs Harbour can vary widely, from beaches and foreshores to wild Forest Mountains, where rivers pass through rocky gorges and from fantastic falls and rocky pools.
The Coffs
Harbour Landscape
The always-present visual element is the coastline, composed of a series of long open beaches, broken by smaller pocket beaches in the Macauley's and Mullaway areas. Headlands which rise above their surroundings, dominating the coastal view, protrude between the beaches and provide extensive views of the picturesque Solitary Islands and offshore reefs.
Behind the urban areas of the coastal plain the land rises through a series of ridges running from the main Great Dividing Range, and covered by a rich tapestry of banana plantations and stands of eucalypts. The dramatic contrasts make the hinterland an area of particular scenic beauty and a delight for the more energetic bushwalker.
